Christmas Film Music

Arranger's Notes:

The first two pieces in this medley came to mind for me easily. Although I have a slightly different upbringing from a lot of North Americans (i.e. I am Australian, and was raised in an Anglican Christmas tradition that heavily slants towards more Classical carols for this season), these first two pieces reflect Christmas for me. Perhaps most obviously, Linus and Lucy with its confluence of Jazz and the Peanuts comics, bring to me a fond recollection of childhood. White Christmas, written by Irving Berlin for the 1942 movie Holiday Inn, is still the biggest selling single of all time (physical copies).

A Medley, must have at least 3 pieces and I couldn't think of a well known piece from a film (Full disclosure: I know that A Charlie Brown Christmas was originally shown on television, but my first viewing of it was in a cinema. Perhaps that is just an Australian thing?). After must discussion, and a rejection of a piece from a Grinch movie that didn't fit my postive idea of this medley, we came up with idea of, as it was put to me, "that song from Home Alone". I had performed this with various choirs before, so I thought that was a grand idea.
